When Jake emailed us he shared that his dream was to build a beautiful backyard sanctuary.  His only fear was that he felt incorporating the many different design elements he wanted that his backyard would begin to feel and look smaller than what it  was.  When we asked him what his vision was he said he wanted a multi leveled stamped concrete patio, a small rock water fall feature, natural wood pergola, seat wall with pillars and lights, a fire pit, and a tall outdoor fire place.

We set up an onsite appointment and walked around his backyard a drew up our design for him.  We measured his existing grade for pitch and after a few revisions we had our final design and layout.

We decided to create three main areas for his patio where he felt he could walk out with his company and go from area to area.  We wanted to create different outdoor “rooms”.  The first area is where you walk out from his patio sliding doors onto his landing and down his stairs, this area was designed as a meeting or gathering space.  The space is to gather together before making your way to the other two areas in the patio.  The second area is the seated wall and fire pit area.  This area was designed to be more intimate, to have an area to kick your feet up at the end of the day and enjoy a small fire for those cool summer and fall nights.  There is a seat wall where you can sit or you can sit on your chairs and there are two beautiful architectural pillars with lights that we added.  The third and final area is the great room, this room has it all, it has the enormous rough cut wood pergola and outdoor fire place.  This area was designed to be the main grilling and dining area.

Jake called us the other day to thank us again and shared with us that he and his wife have been having company over every weekend since we finished their project.  We are thrilled with the final product and they are too.  Let us know what you think, comment below!
